GoodCorporation worked with a global construction firm to assess the effective implementation of the companyās worker welfare programme. The project involved inspections of a number of sites and managed sites to assess whether the overall management, labour conditions and working practices were in line with company policy.
GoodCorporation visited construction sites, labour camps and site offices conducting face-to-face interviews with site managers, supervisors and construction workers, both those contracted by the company and those working for subcontractors. Our work covered a variety of key risks including child labour, migrant workers, wages, employment contract status and recruitment mechanisms.
We interviewed employees of first and second tier suppliers, looking primarily at labour conditions and human rights on construction sites and worker camps. This included child labour, migrant workers, wages, employment contract status and recruitment mechanisms
We developed a bespoke 56-point framework which was used as the basis for the assessment, with grades awarded for each framework point indicating whether further action was required. Following the assessment, an action plan was prepared for the local head of ethics and compliance to implement.
GoodCorporation understands cultural issues and gives good practical advice.
